TASK 4 – Evaluation !
All my images relate to a young age and probably to the female gender as the images are quite girlie. The images are to reflect to a younger person as they are about beauty and the different sides that a person has, and that however you different you are you are beautiful. For example the image where the face is to the side of image against the mirror, shows a dark and light side of the girl. I wanted it to represent that everyone is human and has there flaws. Young girls never believe they are beautiful and i would love these images to show and represent a campaign for young beauty.
Another example of this is the image where you can see the same face 3 times, all looking upwards, showing the way that young people look in the mirror they see many different flaws and the difficulties a young person has to go through.
The reason that i think these images will relate well with younger girls instead of an older generation is because they are showing beauty is skin deep. And that even with sweets covering your face any feature is a gorgeous feature. I think the image would be a good campaign and advertisment. A good advertisement for make up brands such as rimmel or boujour, as they are always referring to there lip gloss as sweet beauty. A good front cover beauty page for magazine.
My work i very bright and young, very much like pop art like Andy Warhol, my work looks like something from the 60s,70s80s. the time of energy and freedom no rules just fun. The images speak for themselves and tell different stories to the different people looking at them. For example if your a young socila light you would hang it up in your room look at the flaws of the young girls maybe even want to try sweets on your face.
There show a story of romance passion for some people, or a deeper meaning for the older generation. READING MORE INTO THE IMAGE.
These images would not really be for the male sex unless for lusting over the beautiful girls in the images.
My weakness and stenths in photoshop and all over photography.
I also learnt how to use photo shop, through im hardly an expert i learnt a few things that can help make my images better. i learnt to trim, change colour and extract certain parts of the image. I am still learning to use it and it is definitely a weak point.

= ME starting to extract a certain part of the image, the part i most wanted.

= the finishing product, not so good, need to learn hoe to sharpen and clean up images.

= trying to change to black and white and get the correct exposure. Anothe thing to get correct.

= beginning to crop image.

= finish product of cropping, actually not to bad.
Through the 3 months that we worked on this task i have gained a better knowledge and a gained a better technical knowledge and ablitie. Through the months my knowledge of lighting has gone up many levels from understanding simple spotlighting to full on knowledge of key lighting and how it effects the mood of the image.
I also have gained a better understanding of shutter speed and ISO to enable me to produce more images of a professional level. I was able to show this though out task 1 ,2 and 3. I wen from minor knowledge to knowledge in a category that has many different levels and advanced skills that i am starting to understand. Which can help produce and create brilliant images.
My creativity has also become stronger thought my ablitie to research photographers before jumping and attempting to straight away take images. THIS enabled me to have a clear and precise idea, my sweet idea. This is from looking and finding Joesph Cartwrite . Doing this made me feel more confident im the images that i was creating.
I also learnt that creativity is just to come and flow and not to think to much not . I learned to play with my images and not to hold back.
I believe my time management was good. I do believe that 3 months was not enough time for the amount of work that we had to do. IT was a struggle to keep to the time given but i did and over all i think my time managment was good. My stentgh are my ablitie to understand how a camera works which is a good advantage and a negative is photshop.
To end i learnt words like Perspective, Abstraction, Composition, Depth-of-field, Lens Flare, Spatial, abstract.
Task 3 – Portraits
Below are the 3 brainstoming steps I took to get to my final idea.
I have decided to do portatiture as my chosen specialism.
I want to do fun and exciting portraits, nothing dull and plan, nothing simple. I love black and white photos but the main lot of my images will be colour. I have decided that I want to create something a little different. I am going to create images using models and sweets. Candy on the face will be the name of portfolio. As well as the candy ones there will be simple images following the same tone but toned down.
Below are a couple of images that I found when putting candy face in google.

I love this image its just a random one that I found on google but the bold contrast between the pale skin against the colour lips is very effective. With very subtle lighting and a close up shop it gives off a great atmosphe. The focal point is of course the lips they draw u staight in followed by the intensity of the eyes. The face is is totally in focus but hand is just out of focus referring back to the depth of field.

In this photo all you can see is the lips, thats the focal point of the image. Clear image, the focus being on the sweet in the mouth. This goes along with my sweet idea and though my idea is more full on , with the sweets being all over i plan on having a few images lie that within my collection.
Joesph Cartwright is a photographer that looks at fashion and beauty and within his beauty work there are images which include sweets. Though my ideas are a bit more over the top and include lots more sweets he was a good photographer to look at to get my ideas rolling and was a good starting point. His images could be found as a editorial in a magazine has there clean and would work well for advertising as well certain products.
1.
This photo is very close up with everything except the background in focus, though this is the normal way a portrait is normally done i plan on having some of my backgrounds in focus to keep my images busy. Portraits can tell a story, they evoke passion, her eyes are just above the sweets as if shes giving them away, she is telling a story. The light is coming from the lest hand side and also there from above the right eye. This is highlighting sections and getting rid of shawdows. It has quick exposure time same as the others below.
2.
I like the angle of this image and the intensity of the colours. The lines of the image draw your to her eyes, the angle from the mouth to the eyes, the shape of her face creates an era of mystery. The angle of the camera, in which the image has been taken is just above her eye height. Light from both left and right side to create a glow on cheeks.
3.
4.
5.
Joseph Cartwright tends to fill the whole frame with the subject which can sometimes work, but normally a portratit can be taken from the center with space around or 2 thirds over. I plan todo a number of different frames and angles to create a collection of images. This photo takes up the whole frame but still the eyes are drawn to the sweet in the mouth which makes the image work as there is a clear focal point. Soft lighting is to keep natural and simple. I plan to have quite bright lighting and by using filters to keep my images fun and exciting.
Elizabeth Huff
I have added her collection to show more lip photos to show how ideas can evolve into something else and even bigger. every image has a different theme lighting isint a big problem as the images are so in focus and so close up.
All these images create an image and a thought in the head. How did they do that? Interesting?. which means you look deeper into the image. Her images are adverts all ready are are called lipgloss adverts. They are for a brand of lip-gloss to show the effects that you lips can give off with the right colour.
Each image is different but follows the idea of lips but all the images have different angles. The way i believe she done this was by takeing a facial shot then cropping the lips during later stages.

Before I take my real images I Planned out what i would do. Firstly i looked at previous portrait images and looked at framing and placing.

This image is of my dog, The clear and smooth imagery of the dog and the out of focus background shows a good portrait.

I used photoshop on this image to whiten the background and heighten the tone of the face. To highlight the face and the background.
plan
Below are a the images that I took. This are many and are not the finale 5 though the finale five are in amongst these.
I took both black and white and colour images. Firstly are a few of the black and white images i took including the contact sheet.

This is the contact sheet of my black and white images, below are few i picked out to show them more clearly

For this image I stuck chocolate buttons onto the face, the contrast is clear with good black and white differences. The buttons add a shape on the face creating smooth and subtle lines. You can see a pattern within the image its self. You can see where the lighting hits the right hand side of the face. there is even a good depth of field.

This is image has a mixture of sweets, 100 thousands, love hearts and black swirls. The image is a tad scary with the crazy eyes. clear symmetry.

when I do black and white images i don’t use light i use mirrors which in a sense is a light source. I like how clear the reflection is and the clear contrast. The image tells a story which is what i said portraits are suppose to do.

3.

4. Hairbo Sweets are on the face, many different images with different angles being taken to show all sides of the face.

5.
Below are my photos that are in colour some are similar to the black and white images.

I took a few images before the sweetie ones of plan faces to show a more rounded collection. There are a few images. I used materials i had around to create more exciting images. I also used mirrors as it gives a good effect.

I enhanced the colour and the contrast to make the photo more bold.
I enhanced the colour and the contrast to make the photo more bold.

Below are some of The haribo images, I stuck colour filters over my camera lens to experiment with differnt colours.

Below are two images that i used for cropping purposes, firstly is the One sweet in the mouth photos and cropped images.

I dont like the actual image but when i cropped it and went on from there i really like the outcome.
Before photoshop.

For the lip image I had a high exposure and low saturation. I highlighted the lip space around it. It creates a mystical vibe
![rac]chel lips 1](http://amylouisexx.files.wordpress.com/2009/11/racchel-lips-1.jpg?w=300&h=208)
I sectioned the image of and decreased the amount of shawdows and lowed the contrast of the lips.
NEXT IMAGE OF SWEETS IN THE MOUTH.

Before photoshop

For this image I boost the colour intensity to heighten the power that the lips gives off.

I used the colour balance toggle in photoshop to brighton the colours and to put everything in one colour in different shades.
When i was in the process of choosing my 5 images i decided to photoshop one of them in different ways to see if i like more in different ways.
The original image.

Photoshop image…..

I added a green toner to the photo, smoothed the edges out and added a few more shawdows to get a good effect.

I added a the glow effect that photoshop has to offer and then downed the saturation to the lowest it can be without losing any detail.

I kept this one black and white as I like black and white images. Plus I sharpened all the edges and smoothed the middle lines, plus added shadows and highlighted the mirror space.
BELOW ARE MY FIVE CHOSEN IMAGES.

I expermented for a while with this image to get the shawdowing correct as it kept being to over powerful and then the light was not bright enough and when i just got the lighting right it didn’t work worth the mirror. Eventually I found the best type of light source was a small torch just above and a shiny piece of paper to deflect the natural light form the sun onto her face. Subtle lighting creates an edge to this image, the make-up looking super-hero ish… lighting gives a good vs bad situation.
I decided to have the head sidewards and to have her looking away from the camera as it creates a deeper and more emotion evoking image. I wanted one half of her as a full on facial was harder on the lighting and was not very flattering.
The contrast of this image is clear but i did up the contrast level on photoshop and made the bottom of the image darker.
A few weakness in the image are the smudging on the mirror which now seeing i would change maybe even add a clear gloss to create a even shinier background.

This is one of my black and white images, which i took myself and developed myself. This image is clear and has a good contrast, I put alot into this image. That including the amount of items surrounding the image.
I used a tiny torch under the face which reflected on the shiny material on the right hand side. This shows the right hand side of the face is lighter than the left hand. The position of the face is slitty raised, but the eyes are still not looking at the camera. There is a good depth of field, face in contrast and clear and background blurry and not in focus.
All the lines draw towards the face as its the center of the image. Weakness of this image is the fact that there is no shapes or symmetry in the image, A good point is no blur on the face which is due to a quick shutterspead.

I think this image is very scary, Its very bold and just screams at your. The face is dead in the center of the image. The closing of the eyes makes you ask allot of questions. You ask your self, Why arent they open? Whats wrong with them? How different would the image look with the eyes open would it tell a different story would it change the context of which the image is in. I did take images with the eyes open and i can assure you the image doesn’t look as good or as strong. With the eyes closed the image is more stark and vibrant.
The bold create a goo colours d contrast and juxsterpoisting. The image pops of the page. It brings you in and keeps you there. Along with the crazy hair flowing outwards like a crazy banche. The red tomato face adds to the image keeping you in that uncomfortable feeling.
Straight symmetry through the midddle of the image. The random scattered 100 thousands just add to make this image as bold as possible.
Some negatives of the image still no clear shapes are visible.

To show where the context of where my images could be found i created a magazine cover for a beauty magazine. Using one of my five finale images to be the cover picture. This is because The image is of the face and it has beauty aspects. There could also be adverts for sweets or beauty products as they are bold and have a good effect.

LIGHTING
Lighting is used to highlight the key points in a photo and as there are so many and that they all do different things it can sometimes be hard to choose the best lighting.
There is something called 3 point lighting.
Key lighting – this is the main light, the hard light source that is on the side of the camera. It is the like the sun and is there to highlight and emphasise.

This image only has the the hard source that the camera gives and highlights the pale parts than the darker parts.
Back lighting – This is lighting that comes from behind the subject. This type of lighting creates a siholette. There are many different types of back lighting you can use the sun, sky or un natural lights for example spotlights. The lights have to be just right as when the camera reads the brightness of the light it changes the setting to accompany it to best ability to create the best possible photo. Back lighting would be good to highlight the subject and maybe give them a sense of mystery. Some problems that can occur are shadows but there are ways to fill in the shadows. – full lighting
Full lighting – This is soft lighting that highlights the shadows and lowers the contrast between light and dark. This can fill in shadows that may appear when using back lighting. This comes from about the same height as the camera.

For example THE subtle lighting/ full lighting gives a shadow under the chin highlights the place of interest.
There are more advanced lighting that below, As well a them you get all round lighting, full frontal lighting, top heavy lighting and more.
For example below is an image i created with full frontal lighting with a dark shadow behind.

diffused lighting – This is a very simple thing that allows you to have more natural lighting instead of the full harshness of flash or a bright sun light which in no photo every flatters the subject, this can be created easily. for example just waiting for a cloud to move over the sun can create a gorgeous image. If this is not possible you could use an umbrella to create shade. Diffused lighting is all about create a shadow to enhance the photo with still having the colours filter in.

artificial lighting – This is when you create the light your self. Anything from the flash on the camera to a lamp from above. you are creating the light that is visible in the photo. Through this is a simple way of creating images when indoors you can create a yellow shade which makes the images look un clear and dirty.

The artificial light in this image is a torch shinning on to the image to create an old looking image. The other light is of course the candle.
side lighting – Is a good effect to use on images to create depth and drastic effect without having to do so much work.
Side lighting is lighting that comes from the left or the right hand side to create a dark shadow on one half of a subject. Side lighting enhances the mood of the image. Side lighting can sometimes be to harsh and over shadow the subject instead of highlighting. This can easily be dealt with by softening the light that appears on one side by reflecting the light on to the darkened side of the face to give off a more natural photo.

The lighting is coming from the right and does create a very dark shadow and shows a difference between light and dark.
DIFFERENCES BETWEEN FILM AND DIGITAL CAMERAS.
Film and digital cameras are two totally different things and in different ways but to create the same thing an image that captivates the audience.
Film is where you use a manual SLR camera. This is ever so difficult as you have to rely on your eye. The only hint that you get is by the light dial in the camera. The light dial tells you if you have to much light, not enough light or just the right amount.
You develop the film yourself you get that magical feeling as you see the image appear before you face. The thing that can be a problem is that you cant see your photo straight after you have taken it. Black and white are the best to take when using a manual camera.
Digital cameras are more convenient they are easy to use as they do everything for you, no thinking is needed for a basic photo. They take in the correct light in natural lighting. Digital cameras able you to see your photo straight away and decide if you like it. Digital cameras do take better photos as any one can do it.
FILM Vs DIGITALIS
You have to completely do everything to take a photo. Before a photo can even be taken you have to load the film and roll it backwards, then making sure no light has hit it and that the number dial is at 1. Where as using a digital camera all you have to do it press a button, you dont have to remember to do anything.
The sensor is also different in each camera and this is important as it creates the depth of field. In a Film camera as the film is light sensitive the sensor is placed behind the lens and when the a photo is taken for a certain amount of time the light hits the film and therefore puts an image on the negatives. Digital is difference there is a fixed electronic sensor behind the lense, when the photo is taken a pixel is given and it gets its value they are then saved on a sd card.
Once a photo has been taken on a Manual camera you cannot correct it, of course once the photo has been developed you can crop it and add filters to get a better contrast theres also the possibility of scratching back in and making photograms but the photo its self cannot be changed. Whereas on a digital camera you can do anything you can change the colour of the image, you can blur you can re touch anything, you can add anything and do anything that you wish.
People believe that the quality of the photo is determined by what camera you use and as much as this is true a photo can be bad either way. The problem that has now occurred is
that digital cameras are evolving and film is fading. Which means the fight is slowly going as people wanna make it as easy as possible to create a photo.
Below is a digital image from the same subject, I was able to darken everything that i didn’t want to highlight and exposure what i did. This makes the photo look better and is why digital cameras can be very positive.

And below is the same idea but in a black and white film, its very crackly but that is to do with the scanner and the overall image that has been produced, i have added a sepia tone whilst i was in the developing stage. I like the image but you can see some of the disadvantages when using film.

FLASH
Flash is artificial light that is with in the camera. This is typically the auto on the camera which most people use as this is what the dial is set to most off the time.
Flashes can be used for a number of reasons one reason to be able to catch things moving quickly. But the main reason is to normal illuminate the scene, this could because there is not enough of natural in the photo. Flash can brighten up the image and give it more oomph allowing the photo to be to its best standard.
The flash tends to be electronic as they have moved on from single use bulbs.
As i said before flash tends to be built in, but cameras do have a possibility of adding more flashes on.
As of everything there are draw backs and of course positives.
The main drawback is that built in flashes tend to be well lame, they have no real power behind them.
Another problem that occurs is the whole red eye effect and through this can be removed it tends to be a hassle.
Over all flash has evolved from something quite simple to a modern masterpiece that every one from a child with plain digital camera to Mario Testino.
Below are two images one with flash and one with without, this shows the difference flash has on an image.

Below is what can happen sometimes when flash is used—- red eye.

TRIPOD
Tripods are a simple device that photographers use to stop camera shake and keep the images clear. They are mainly used when slow exposure is in motion to keep the image as sharp as possible.
Tripods are also good for framing images as they are set in one place, you get to choose the height and the place you set it, to get the best possible image and best optical view. This enables the photographer to in a way plan before hand and give them the chance of a more thoughtful and better approach to the image. Personally when i use a tripod which is in a rare occasion its because the image i am trying to capture is that of a hard subject. For example i used a tripod with a manual camera instead of a digital as i had a slow shutter speed and a horse moving and i did not want a blur.
By the word tripod to understand that its got three legs that can moved and changed to the height you wish.
LENSES
Lenses are semi attached, you can change them to suite your needs. Called an optical lens.
There are many different lenses each one bringing something new and interesting to a photo and each are better for certain photo scenes.
Firstly there is the wide angle lens. A wide-angle lens can focus on the foreground and background. Wide-angle camera lenses are best for large, dynamic landscapes where they both background and foreground catch the eyes attention. A wide angle is 21mm to 35mm.

zoom lens.
This allows the photographer to widen or shorten the lens focal length to increase or decrease the magnification of the subject. you can use it ranging from landscape to portrait photography.

TELEPHOTO LENS
This is my favorite lens its so good and does everything. I have one myself and find it great for portraits. Its really good for depth of field. What you focus on it what is clear everything else is a blur. The difference between zoom and telephoto is very subtle. Telephoto can go in very far , This allows a telephoto lens to show greater detail.

There are so many other lenses you have the macro lens which is used to take extreme close ups. Without the images being distorted.
There is also the fisheye lense which is now mainly used for landscape photography. Good for wide range.
Other lenses fixed focal lens, standard/normal lens.
Technical Aspects of a camera
Aperture
Aperture refers to the amount of light that is let in. This is done by the diaphragm opening the lens during the the exposure process. The diameter of the lens opening is usually controlled by the iris.
In the lens there are blades that open and shut, the longer that they are open the more light that is let in.
You control the amount of light that is let in by moving the lens. On the lens there are F numbers, each of these numbers refers back to the amount of time that the iris is left open. Basic f numbers – 1.4 , 2 , 2.8 , 4 , 5.6 , 8 . your bascially doubling it.

first image = f/4

second image = f/5.6
if the Aperture was 30, the diaphragm was open for a very long time and alot of light was let in, so much that it takes away from the subject.
As you can see the aperture has a big effect on the the overall photo.
Below are images showing different shutter speads, and the effects that they have on images.

As you can see as the lens stays open for longer the images become blured and lighter and are harder to see hardly any detail can be found.
SHUTTER SPEED..
shutter speed does come into aperture as its still about the the amount of time that the lens is open for. Its not so much about the light coming though.
The Shutter speed can be anything from 1 second to 30 seconds. People tend to have a quick shutter speed so that it picks everything up in an instant. I find using instant shutter speed is good for portraits as there is normal nothing you want to pick up.
Below is an image where i used a quick shutter speed of a portrait.

I used auto to create an instant photo with natural lighting the shutter speed was down within a second causing no blur.

When you plan on using slow shutter speed or long exposure its best to use a tripod to limit the camera shake as much and possible and to also keep the image in place.
I like using long exposures when i want pick up movement. I find it looks really good to give a sense of mystery.
Below is an image that i created to with a shutter speed of 15 seconds and got my subjects to move in and out and in a red toned room.
You can use slow and fast shutter speeds on both digital and manual SLR cameras. When you use manual cameras it tend to never come out as great as its hard to expose the image for the correct amount of time.
FOCAL POINT
FOCUS POINT. The reason the focal point is so important is because thats where the eye is drawn to. See the eye needs somewhere to rest once looking at an image.
There are many points and ideas of how to keep the focus point simple.
The position is important you want the focus point to be the most prominent. Using depth of field to blur out backgrounds is a great way of shifting the focus to the part that you want. This is called bokeh, is the blur, in out of focus area in the photos.
At the end of the day the image you take will normally have a focal point, but an idea is to really make it stand out.
Below are a few of examples that i took, see if you can guess where the focal point is.

DID YOU GUESS???
the flower bud is the focal point the raw bright colour against the dull background.Draws you towards it.

DID YOU GUESS???
The eyes are the focal point they are strong and on a pale background with a darker background.
Colour is a major part in finding and creating an image.
FOCAL LENGTH
Focal length relays back to lenses, its about how much you can see in an image. Its hard to describe so firstly i have a diagram to show what i mean.

Below are images taken with different lenses all with a different length, below you will be able to see how they differ, and how it has a change on an image.

=24mm

=35mm

=45mm

=55mm

Manipulating images.
Manipulating images is when you change an original image to create a better or even a new one. Using photoshop is a great way of doing all different things to create a brilliant photo. thought of course there are many different programs that allow to do this though photoshop is the best one.

I manipulated this image by selecting each person separately and changing the colour balance to create individual colors.
I also brightened the photos by heightening the exposure time.

Both these images have been turned to black and white. The top one has been done to exposure and i heightened the black and the contrast to create a cartoon looking image.
For the bottom one i blurred it to create more of a 50s vibe, more romantic.

You can also crop images, for example below is an image, i then cropped the part that i wanted.

ISO
The ISO in film photography refers back to how sensitive the film is where as digital photography refers to the sensitivity of the image sensor.
The ISO refers to the numbers on the camera, 100,200,400,800,1600 and then hi 1 which normally means 3200.
The lower the number the less sensitive your camera is to light. Higher the ISO settings means its normally a darker situation.
Lower than 50 ISO means that the images get more saturated, normally cameras dont go below 100.
The standard ISO is 100 it creates fine, nice and colorful images that are very balanced.
Over 400 ISO means that the colour gets a good boost and it reduces any noise that might have been picked up.
Remember when choosing the ISO Think of depth of field, the subject, Grain and the surroundings.
Below is the same image but i took it with different ISOs to show the diiferneces.

Researching Artists and there photos
http://carolineleeming.com/
Caroline Leeming works within fashion and still life. Her still life images capture fashion adverts from sunglasses to perfume.
Advertisement photography is all about making the simplest thing a masterpiece so that it will sell.
The first image is of a pair of shoes i choose this one as the clearness and the overall set up keeps the image fresh and new whilst still seeing the product which is what advertisement photography is all about. With the plain background the shoes are at the frontline .
There is a shadow in front of the shoes which means that there is light straight down towards the shoes. juxtaposition is shown in this photo by the positioning of the shoes and the different types. When looking at the shoes u could imagine that its only one pair of shoes. But as there are to it shows a contrast. Short shutter speed as there is no grain and is not blurry. Showing two types in one photo is also a good way to get a final shot. The lighting is shone on the object which creates a vibrant photo.
The second image i choose was of a perfume bottle which can be hard to photo cause of the intensity and light weight of the bottle. Personally i like photo adverts to have a person to keep it fresh i feel that, that can bring the perfume alive and tell a story. For example the chanel adverts always tell a story…. . I do like the perfume advert the colour intensity of the bottle draws you towards it and the detailing of the bubbles keeps it interesting but the lighting and framing does nothing to make me enjoy the photo. where as the coco chanel advert has spotlighting and smooth transitions into the poses. The lighting invokes sensuality and pulls you into the photo. The shadowing creates an unparalleled mood. Full light is used to create a soft atmosphere. Lighting on her hair to keep her looking high shine. There is also a back light to show a contrast between the light and dark. Soft lighting on her legs, drawing the onlooker in wanting to caress her legs. You feel the sprit of the subject.
These photos would be seen in any media industry in any shop window and on any bill board and in any magazine. All these images are very editorial. All of them could be seen on the specific website advertising the product. Bright and light photos draw people in and make them buy.
Below are to photos that i created my self …
The first image is an advert for a pair of shoes, I used the idea from the advert below to make the setup of the shoes more interesting. I used a plain background to emphasis the shoes just like above… My focus is good and the framing fits.

Below this image is another image that i recreated.. A chanel advert

The image i recreated is of no where near the same as the professional chanel advert but a contrast. Instead of using key lights and back lights i used the light that i had around me which was natural light. The angle of the camera is straight towards the model which makes the image endearing and sensorial.
The composition is showing the fall face with no negative background. I blurred what was left of the background when editing the photo to emphasize the model. My focus was on getting the perfume bottle and the model in one image.
I like the effect that my image has, i believe it draws you in and tells a story just like the one above. It also follows the sensual feeling f the one up top but just not with as much sex appeal.
Bela Boisodi – works for high profiled companys taken there advertising shots. – Below is some of her work.

http://www.belaborsodi.com/
Does advertisement from fashion to chewing gum. I choose one of her advertisement for elle and one for trident gum. Her unique framing and the dull lighting does create an advertisement as all u see is the product. Each and every photo has a different theme and keeps her photography new and interesting.
I like the trident advert as it is all about the product. The grey background creates a setup for the bright packaging. Becuase the images are quite boring there is not much to say but at the end of the day its making me want a chewing gum so its doing what its meant to.
The photo on the bottom right is of jewelry, as you can see it has studio lighting but there is a candle lit on the logs. This is another source of lighting and displays the top brighter than the bottom very moderately.
I would see these adverts on the internet as sidelines that catch your eye or as a advertisement in a magazine or even on the television as a flash bang advert. There not really editorial but u could see something like the jewelry one in the window of Selfridges or used as an advert for elle magazine. The Gum advert could be seen on a billboard.
Below is an image that i recreated for a product advert. simple lighting to show of the product just like theones above. No fancy or technical stuff just the product.

The effect this image has on me is that i look straight to the box to find the name of the product, thats what the composition does to me it draws my in to my image.
Caroline Leemings and Bela Boisodi work are very different a stark comparisment of what there work is trying todo.
Caroline’s work Has more of an angle,Its more unique more edgy and fashion like, She uses alot of light and uses photoshop to create an advert with punch. Where as Bela’s work is more sutler, her work gets to the point but its not fancy which is not a bad thing. Caroline looks at juxstarpostining and how the work could be viewed. Where as Bela just want to emphasize the important parts.
There do both choose not use models as to not draw attention away form the product. This is cleverly done to create a more company based image. Also both images are clear with no grain being able to be seen.

Portraits

Jill Greenberg looks at many subjects but she chooses ones that inspire her. These photos are part of her end times collection. The collection consists of different children in emotions.
The depth of these photos strikes an emotional toll on the subject and the viewer. All the photos are on a blank background which highlight the focus point of the photos . This is done when the photographer wants the photo to speak for its self and not be crowded. The focus is on the faces which the light as been shone, you can see this from behind the main subject.
When i look at these images i see pure emotion, i see an amazing image that has clean lines. It has an impact on the audience and a story behind it. you look at these photos and you can imagine a story. There is no literal translation in these photos it is all about the emotion. These photos also follow the first rule of portrait photography and thats to fill the frame with the subject but to leave space for exposure. The Focus is clear. There is full light on the left hand side diagonally working towards the face. Backlighting is also used to show the relevance of the photo. The effect this image has on me is different than the usual child photo as its not of a cheesy happy baby but of a screaming emotional child. This photo has be done in a studio with a backdrop. Quick shutter speed would of been needed.
Portraits have many rules which help them become brilliant photos…… Its a good idea to keep the eyes in the upper third this keeps tension within the image and full contact with the camera.
Another rule i s to change your angles. A way todo this is to move around the camera to get away from distractions.

These photos would be seen in the context of newspapers for articles in books for dealing with children and on the website. the context of these photos could even be used as an advertisement. Could be used in books the physiology depicting children.
David Bailey – Michael Caine
David Bailey’s iconic photo has been transformed into age defying art by changing the way people see it. it started of by being black and white. The black and white photo has a great contrast with the right amount of both white and black and with no grey. this makes the image strong. the portrait screams the past. the focus is on the person. The other part of the photo is the fag. You eyes are drawn towards his eyes the stark right power of them draws you in and keeps you fixated. this is a strong. There are 3 things that make this photo his suite, the glasses and the fag. they all show his power and make the photo powerful. the other thing is the silhouette showing good and evil another reason why black and white keeps it in an order.
Over the years this iconic photo has been changed by turning to sepia and even adding colour. i like this photo as its plain but with an underlined oomph.
These photos could be used in this time as an advertisement of non smoking. I think this would be great advert being used in the Guardian as a feature on the past, Using it as a image of what that era was all about. The fun and excitement. High editorial images that depict an era of time.

Below is an image that i created. A remake of an iconic original. I made an old original a modern remake. I tried to keep the shadowing on the face and old glasses and of course the fag and i do like my image. Through its not as good as the original its not bad!!!

The effect this photo has on me is that the lighting is that of the same as the original. I like the image that i have recreated as it shows the understanding of the way the image was taken.
Below is me changing the filter to recreate some of the oringnal recreations.

Jill Grennberg and David Bailey are completely different artists with different views and images they were trying to create. I love both of them as they both use light as a way of telling a story and i think that has a good effect on the onlooker to understand and find deeper meanings. They are different in the way that Jill uses children to display her emotions and of how she once felt at a particular moment in time. Whereas david looked at celebritys and showing them to be themselves,, there true colors!!!!
Symmetry is used in both to create a dimensional photo.
